1/17/2006: And the line of the night award goes to...

Geena Davis' acceptance speech at the Golden Globes was better than most of the scripts for the movies and tv shows being honored at the event. Winning the Best Actress award for her role as President on "Commander in Chief" she told the glitzy dinner party crowd:

"As I was coming in, I felt a little tug at my skirt. And I looked, and there was a little girl maybe 8 or 10, in her first party dress, and she said, 'Because of you I want to be president someday.' "

"Awwww" said the crowd.

"Awwww" said everyone watching.

Then Geena continued, "Well, that didn't actually happen.. awwww.. but it could have."

Scriptwriters, directors and producers who didn't win should find out who's writing her material and hire them.

The Golden Globes have really picked up steam in recent years, opening awards season and gaining a reputation of predicting Oscar winners, which is interesting since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association only has about 80 members.
